Additive Manufacturing Orthotic Technologist
Boundless Biomechanical Bracing
York, Ontario, Canada
My Name is Thomas Burton, MASc, EIT. I hold a Masters of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering and work for Boundless Biomechanical Bracing as the Lead Additive Manufacturing Orthotic Technologist.
Immersed in sports from a young age, I developed a strong passion for human movement and biomechanics. This led to persuing post secondary studies in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Ottawa where I studied robotic assistive exoskeletons, orthopaedic implants and other assistive technologies. A large portion of my academic research looked into how exoskeleton technologies change gait patterns, improve balance, and effect metabolic cost. At Boundless, I am leading our 3D printing intiatives and integrating digital workflows into our practice. Throughout this role I have continued developing a passion for design and additive manufacturing, while working with clinicians to create designs that have positive outcomes on a patients quality of life.
