Dr. Thomas Schmalz is the head of the Lab for Biomechanics and the Leading Expert for Biomechanics at the Clinical Research & Services Department of Otto Bock. In addition, he has lectureships in the field of Biomechanics at the University of Gießen and at the Private University of Applied Sciences Göttingen. His main fields are 1) gait analysis incl. EMG and metabolic energy consumption analysis, 2) applied research in prosthetics, orthotics, rehabilitation, and orthopedics, 3) sports biomechanics, and 4) biomechanical modeling.
