Individuals with bilateral transfemoral amputation make up a small portion of the overall patient population, but require focused solutions to meet their unique needs. This includes on ramps and stairs where bilateral TFA users are completely reliant on technology. This presentation will describe the product development process for a true bilateral mode for the Genium MPK and explain why advanced MPKs should be considered standard of care for such patients.

This abstract will present a case study based on the remote monitoring of a transtibial prothesis user for their functional level assessment. Through daily step data collection, one could demonstrate that typical ways of evaluating this patient were underestimating their capacity of performing activities of daily life in real-life conditions, and, therefore, their functional level.

The latest advancement in the collection of patient outcome measures using the P&O COMET mobile app technology will be presented and how this mobile app can be used to contribute to the Limb Loss and Preservation Registry.

(C8E) Advanced Wearable Fitness Tracker for Transtibial Limb Loss: A Feasibility Study Using the Oura Ring

Prosthetic prescription practices underutilize objective community-based outcomes. To enhance clinical prosthetic practices, the goal of this study was to address the feasibility of using a wearable fitness tracker (Oura Ring) as an accurate, health-related activity measuring device for individuals with lower limb loss. Wearable fitness trackers have the potential to provide objective data necessary for individualized healthcare and prosthetic prescription practices to improve prosthesis satisfaction and overall quality of life.

(C8F) Measuring the Metabolic Energy Consumption in Prosthetics and Orthotics: Which Is an Appropriate Study Design?

Next to established biomechanical and clinical methods, measuring the metabolic energy consumption seems to be an adequate addition to evaluate the effect of prosthetic and orthotic interventions. Nevertheless, the correct methodological approach is crucial regarding the validity and relevance of the results. A scientific based study design will be presented.

(C8G) Feasibility of Predicting Successful Return to Duty Following Major Lower Limb Injury Using Clinical Outcomes
Classifier models are an effective method to combine multiple factors and predict appropriate classification of new samples. These models can be used to create decision support tools to inform clinical decision-making. We developed a model to predict successful return to duty following major lower limb injury.
